Recently while organizing the garage, I stumbled upon an old Aiwa TS-W60EZ active subwoofer—a relic from my stepdad’s old audio setup. This beefy subwoofer has 120W of power with a frequency response of 60-160Hz which is not that bad. So, instead of letting it gather more dust, I decided to bring it back to life and see if it could enhance my current sound system, which includes a Fosi Audio BT20A Pro amplifier and Mission V60 speakers.

The Fosi BT20A Pro conveniently has a 3.5mm pre-out jack, perfect for connecting an active subwoofer. Using a 3.5mm to single RCA cable, I plugged in the subwoofer and set it up to complement the Mission V60s, which handle frequencies down to 60Hz. With the subwoofer’s Turnover frequency also starting at 60Hz, I ensured it seamlessly picked up where the speakers left off.

Even though my Mission V60 speakers can produce bass, the subwoofer is specifically designed for those lower frequencies, delivering cleaner, more powerful bass without adding strain to the speakers. This balance made my entire setup feel more dynamic and well-rounded.

In the end, the transformation was remarkable! The subwoofer added warmth and depth to the sound, especially on the low end, making the music more immersive. I’m definitely going to keep it in my setup and maybe upgrade to something better in the future.
